Fayose Visits Olubadan Amid Alleged Removal Plan

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday paid a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, at his palace in Ibadan, days after raising alarm over an alleged plan to remove the monarch.

The visit comes on the heels of claims by Fayose that the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was plotting to depose Ladoja—an allegation both the state government and the palace have since dismissed.

Details of the meeting were not made public, as no official statement had been issued by the palace at the time of filing this report.

Fayose had, in a post on X over the weekend, alleged that moves to remove the monarch would begin with a formal query from the state government, reportedly tied to the monarch’s absence at a recent coronation of high chiefs in Ibadan.

“I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan,” he had said.

However, both the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan’s palace rejected the claim, describing it as unfounded.

Speaking with journalists after his visit, Fayose said he was in Ibadan to show solidarity with the monarch in light of the controversy.

“I came to identify with him because of the issue that came up after what I said,” he noted.

The former governor maintained that his comments were based on credible information. “Whatever I say, I either have the right information from the source or I’m privy to certain activities,” he added.

Fayose also urged Makinde to exercise caution as his administration winds down, warning against actions that could trigger avoidable disputes.

He advised the governor to reflect on how past administrations handled their final days in office, noting that unnecessary controversies often arise at such periods.

The development has stirred political attention in Oyo State, with observers watching closely for any further response from the government or the palace.
