The 2027 governorship race in Adamawa State gained fresh momentum on Wednesday as Abdurrahman Haske formally declared his ambition, promising policies aimed at empowering young people and stimulating economic growth.
Haske spoke shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, confirming that he had met all requirements ahead of the party’s primaries.
“I have fulfilled all the necessary conditions and submitted my documents. We will now allow the process to take its course,” he said.
Addressing concerns about his age, the aspirant dismissed suggestions that youthfulness should be a determining factor in leadership, insisting that competence and experience remain more critical.
“Judging me by age alone is not fair. I have served across sectors, from oil and gas to agriculture and telecommunications—and that experience is there for everyone to see,” he stated.
Haske said his campaign would focus on creating opportunities for young people by building an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
“We want a system where young men and women can succeed. Our focus is on building a new Adamawa where development is inclusive,” he said.
He also pledged to sustain and expand ongoing initiatives in the state, promising to build on the achievements of the current administration under Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
“We will continue from where the present government has stopped and ensure greater progress for our people,” he added.
On the possibility of a consensus arrangement within the party, Haske expressed confidence in the APC’s internal democratic processes, maintaining that he is prepared for any mode of primary adopted by the party.
His declaration adds to the list of aspirants positioning ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship election in the state.
