The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed results of its recent nationwide primary elections circulating on social media, urging members, supporters and the general public to disregard them pending an official declaration by the party’s leadership.

The party said the authentic results of the primaries conducted on May 28 and 29 remain with its National Executive Council (NEC), which is the only organ empowered to announce the outcome of the exercise.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC warned against reliance on unofficial figures being shared across various platforms.

According to the party, the NEC is currently reviewing the reports from the primaries and will make the official outcome public at the appropriate time.

The statement disclosed that, on the directive of the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, a crucial NEC meeting has been convened in Abuja to deliberate on matters arising from the primary elections and other party affairs.

As part of the arrangements, members of the NEC have been directed to arrive in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, June 2, for a pre-NEC session ahead of the main meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 3.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement said.

It added that, “The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results.”

The party further assured stakeholders that successful candidates who will fly the NDC flag in future elections would be unveiled after the completion of internal processes and the submission of candidates’ names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The clarification comes amid heightened interest in the outcome of the primaries, which have attracted widespread attention across the country as political parties intensify preparations for future electoral contests.

NDC leaders reiterated their commitment to transparency and due process, assuring members that the official results would be communicated through recognised party channels.
