By David Alani Ige, Oyo State

Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, has issued a stern warning to members of the Fulani community in Igboho, Oyo State, over the rising cases of kidnapping in the area, giving them a two-hour ultimatum to secure the release of persons allegedly being held by abductors.

Igboho delivered the warning on Saturday during a meeting with Fulani elders convened at the palace of the Alepata of Igboho, the paramount ruler of the town, amid growing concerns over insecurity in the community.

A video of the meeting circulating on social media showed the activist expressing anger over what he described as a worsening wave of abductions, particularly the killing of a pregnant woman allegedly kidnapped by suspected Fulani herders.

According to him, the abductors had demanded ransom from the victim’s family and despite payment being made through a messenger, both the pregnant woman and the person who delivered the ransom were reportedly killed.

Describing the incident as gruesome and unacceptable, Igboho urged the Fulani elders to caution their children and other members of the community whom he accused of being involved in kidnapping activities.

He maintained that residents of the area could no longer tolerate the continued attacks and loss of lives linked to criminal elements operating within the community.

The activist subsequently demanded the immediate release of other abducted persons believed to be in captivity, warning that failure to do so within two hours could trigger decisive action.

“Tell your children to release those they are holding. We cannot continue like this,” he said during the meeting.

Igboho also alleged that the whereabouts of some of the kidnapped victims had been traced, insisting that those responsible should free them without delay.

In the video, he warned security agencies against compromising their duties in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes, stressing that the safety of residents must remain paramount.

The meeting attracted Fulani leaders and community stakeholders who gathered to discuss the deteriorating security situation and possible ways of restoring peace in the area.

The latest development comes amid growing concerns over kidnapping and violent crimes in parts of Oyo State and other areas of the South-West, with community leaders increasingly calling for stronger measures to tackle insecurity.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from security agencies or representatives of the Fulani community regarding the allegations and ultimatum issued by Igboho.
