The Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani, has been honoured with the Transparency International Amalia Award for Individual Professional Excellence in recognition of his contributions to the global campaign against corruption.

Rafsanjani received the prestigious award on July 1 during the Transparency International Movement Awards Ceremony, held at the end of the TI Summit 2026 in Berlin, Germany.

The three-day summit, which ran from June 29 to July 1, was hosted by the Transparency International Secretariat and attracted participants from across the organisation’s global network.

The Amalia Award, named after the late Amalia Kostanyan, former Chair of Transparency International Armenia, is one of the organisation’s highest distinctions. It recognises individuals and national chapters that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing transparency, accountability and anti-corruption initiatives.

Rafsanjani was recognised in the Professional Excellence category for his leadership in promoting transparency, democratic governance and institutional accountability in Nigeria and across Africa.

Under his leadership, CISLAC has expanded its advocacy on fiscal transparency, public accountability, electoral integrity and evidence-based policy reforms, while strengthening collaboration with regional and international partners in the fight against corruption.

Presenting the award, Chair of Transparency International, François Valérian, praised Rafsanjani’s dedication to promoting integrity and accountability, describing his leadership as instrumental in raising the profile of Transparency International Nigeria within the global movement.

He said the Nigerian chapter had become “a more visible and influential voice” in the organisation through consistent participation in international conferences, policy engagements and collaborative anti-corruption initiatives.

Valérian added that Rafsanjani had enhanced the chapter’s reputation through impactful advocacy, resilience and principled leadership, saying his efforts to advance transparency and accountability in Nigeria and across Africa deserved global recognition.

Responding to the honour, Rafsanjani dedicated the award to the CISLAC team, development partners and anti-corruption advocates who have supported the organisation’s work over the years.

He described the recognition as “a testament to the collective efforts of the CISLAC team, its partners, and anti-corruption advocates.”

The CISLAC Executive Director reaffirmed his commitment to deepening democratic governance, strengthening institutions and advancing accountability reforms in Nigeria, across Africa and globally.

The latest recognition further highlights CISLAC’s growing influence within the Transparency International network and its continued role in promoting good governance, institutional reforms and accountability in Nigeria.
