

A police inspector attached to the Enugu State Police Command has died following a road accident said to have involved a police convoy in Enugu.
The deceased, identified as Dr Obodo Paul Ikechukwu, was serving in the Operations Department of the state police headquarters before the incident.
Sources familiar with the development said the officer, who hailed from Nkpologu in Enugu State, sustained fatal injuries after he was reportedly struck by a vehicle linked to a police convoy.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were still unclear as of Tuesday, and authorities had yet to provide an official account of what happened.
Colleagues and associates described the late officer, who was also a PhD holder, as a committed and hardworking policeman whose death came as a shock to members of the command and residents of his community.
As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Police Command had not released an official statement on the incident, while further details were being awaited.
