U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that he has already authorised a large-scale military response against Iran should the country carry out any attempt to assassinate him.
Trump made the disclosure in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, saying standing orders had been issued to the U.S. military to launch a devastating attack on Iran if such a threat materialises.
According to the U.S. leader, the military is on high alert and has the capability to respond immediately.
“1,000 Missiles are locked and loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat… to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America,” Trump wrote.
He added that the directive would remain in force for one year, subject to extension, insisting that the U.S. military was prepared to “completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran” if the threat against him was carried out.
The latest warning comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran following reports of alleged threats against Trump and months after the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran under Operation Epic Fury.
Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed to avenge the killing of senior military commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike ordered by Trump during his first term in office. In recent months, anti-Trump slogans and threats have also surfaced during public events in Iran, further straining relations between the two countries.
Trump’s latest remarks followed reports that Israeli intelligence had uncovered what it described as a renewed Iranian plot targeting the American president.
The development comes as military tensions between the United States and Iran remain high despite previous ceasefire efforts, with both sides continuing to exchange threats amid ongoing regional instability.
