FG Dismisses Report of Attack on FGGC Monguno as Fake

The Federal Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging an attack on the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Monguno, Borno State, describing them as false and misleading.

The Federal Ministry of Education said the school remained safe and secure, assuring parents and guardians that there was no security breach at the college and that academic and boarding activities were continuing without disruption.

In a statement issued on Monday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, the government said the report was capable of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety among parents and the public.

The ministry stated that all students, staff and school facilities at FGGC Monguno were safe and fully accounted for.

It added that the college continued to operate under adequate security arrangements designed to protect students, staff and infrastructure.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed that the safety and welfare of learners in all Federal Government Colleges remained a top priority of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, no student of FGGC Monguno was involved in the incident being linked to the school on social media.

He explained that those affected were remedial students outside the college and that the Borno State Government was already taking the necessary steps to ensure their safety and welfare.

“The safety, security, and welfare of every learner in all Federal Government Colleges remain a top priority of the Federal Government,” the minister said.

The ministry urged journalists, bloggers, social media users and online platforms to verify information through credible and official sources before publishing or sharing it.

It warned that the deliberate spread of unverified information not only misleads the public but also creates unnecessary fear, undermines public confidence and distracts from ongoing efforts to provide safe learning environments across the country.

The ministry also appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm and continue to support their children with confidence, insisting that there was no security threat at the school.

It reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to working with security agencies, state governments and school authorities to safeguard students and personnel in all Federal Government Colleges.

The ministry added that it would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels and urged the public to disregard the report in its entirety.
