Body Of 29-Year-Old Man Found Partly Buried In Enugu Farmland

The body of a 29-year-old man has been found partially buried in a farmland at Ohodo Community, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, with the police arresting the owner of the property in connection with the incident.

The discovery was among the latest operational developments recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across the country, according to its State-by-State Executive Summary of Operational Successes for September 3, 2026.

The statement, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Ani Iniedu, said police operatives responded to information about the discovery on September 2.

Following the discovery, the owner of the farmland, identified as Eze Friday, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The police said the case was being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Enugu, for discreet investigation.

Details surrounding the identity of the deceased, how he died and how his body came to be partially buried on the farmland were not immediately disclosed by the Force.

The development came as the police reported a string of arrests, rescues and weapons recoveries across several states.

In Ogun State, police tactical teams rescued two abducted victims, Taiwo Ajako and Ogunji Wasiu, after receiving information about the presence of suspected kidnappers around Araromi Ake Irolu Village, via Ijesha-Ijebu.

The victims had reportedly been kidnapped along their farm path.

The operatives combed surrounding bushes and successfully located and rescued the pair. An AK-47 rifle, two jackets and a sachet of tramadol were recovered at the scene.

One of the rescued victims, who sustained a gunshot injury, was evacuated for medical attention.

The SCID, Abeokuta, is investigating the incident.

In Kano State, two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate were arrested over the abduction of the APC chairman of Rogo Local Government Area.

The suspects, Mu’azu Halliru and Sunusi Isiyaku, were arrested by operatives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad following intelligence-led operations.

The police said efforts had been intensified to rescue the abducted chairman unharmed and apprehend other members of the syndicate who were still at large.

Also in Ekiti State, police arrested a 26-year-old suspect, Azeez Kudus Okoro, allegedly linked to funds transferred during an armed robbery in Ado-Ekiti.

The suspect was traced to Ibadan, Oyo State, following technical tracking analysis and the execution of a banker’s order.

The SCID, Ado-Ekiti, is handling the investigation.

In Ebonyi State, police operatives foiled an attack on a shop at Ishieke Campus, Ebonyi State University, after about 15 armed men reportedly invaded the premises.

The attackers fled into a nearby bush following the arrival of the police, abandoning a locally made pistol, one round of 9mm ammunition and a machete.

One suspect, 22-year-old Solomon Nnamdi, was arrested, while efforts continued to apprehend his fleeing accomplices.

A routine police patrol in Makurdi, Benue State, also resulted in the arrest of a driver and recovery of a locally fabricated pistol.

The police intercepted an unnumbered Hijet pick-up van and recovered the weapon during a search.

The driver, Abdullahi Idris, was arrested and the vehicle impounded for further investigation.

In Cross River State, detectives arrested a 16-year-old suspect, Ability Jeremiah Etefia, over the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man at Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area.

The police said the incident followed a minor altercation.

The suspect was arrested after detectives mobilised to the scene and reportedly confessed to the crime.

The victim’s body was recovered and deposited at a mortuary for autopsy, while the SCID, Calabar, commenced investigation.

A similar incident was recorded in Sokoto State, where police arrested 43-year-old Hadi Sani over an alleged culpable homicide following an altercation between two brothers at Barkeji Village, Tambuwal Local Government Area.

The victim’s remains were recovered and deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, police in Ekiti State arrested a 45-year-old man, Adebayo Olalekan, over the alleged defilement of an eight-year-old girl at Igede-Ekiti.

The victim was taken to the General Hospital, Igede-Ekiti, for medical examination and treatment, while the suspect was placed under investigation.

In Ogun State, police arrested 20-year-old Ayomide Kamula over the alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman at Ijebu-Igbo.

A medical form was issued to the victim for hospital examination, while police continued efforts to arrest another suspect said to have fled the scene.

The Force also reported the rescue of two foreign nationals in Bayelsa State after they reportedly drifted from São Tomé and Príncipe while fishing.

The two men were located at Agge Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area after the Chairman of the council alerted the police.

The Area Commander, Ekeremor, accompanied the chairman by boat to the community, where the nationals were safely rescued.

They were subsequently taken for onward transportation to Yenagoa for medical evaluation and care.

Along the Rivers-Bayelsa border, joint tactical teams from both commands conducted a coordinated bush clearance operation on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police.

The operation covered bush paths and strategic access routes around Igbogene, Okarki and Mbiama, with the aim of denying criminal elements potential hideouts and access routes.

The police said the operation ended without any security breach, while the area remained under heightened surveillance.

In Anambra State, police took custody of a 16-year-old suspect, Udochukwu Nwankwo, following an alleged robbery at a hotel in Amansea.

Hotel security personnel had pursued and apprehended the suspect before handing him over to the police.

According to the Force, the suspect admitted using a pistol-shaped metallic lighter to rob unsuspecting members of the public. The replica firearm was recovered, while efforts continued to apprehend his alleged accomplices.

The police said investigations into the various cases were ongoing, with the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments handling the incidents.
