Court Rejects ‘PFIPC DG’ Adeyemi’s Bail, Denies Medical Request

A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a request by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the detained self-styled Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), for bail and medical attention.

However, Justice Obiora Egwuatu directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to allow Adeyemi access to his lawyers.

The judge gave the order while ruling on an ex parte application filed by Adeyemi.

Justice Egwuatu also directed the IGP, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the AGF to show cause within 72 hours why the other reliefs sought by Adeyemi should not be granted.

The court adjourned the matter until September 9 for the respondents to explain why the court should not grant the remaining requests.

Adeyemi had sought several orders, including his release on bail and access to medical attention while in detention.

The latest ruling follows an earlier order issued by another Federal High Court judge in Abuja.

On July 14, Justice Mohammed Umar issued a bench warrant for Adeyemi’s arrest following an application by the police.

Justice Umar later adjourned the matter until September 30 for the police to report on efforts to execute the arrest warrant and possible arraignment.

The police subsequently announced Adeyemi’s arrest on July 14, saying officers apprehended him at a hideout in Osun State.

The force has accused him of presenting himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, describing him as a “fake DG”.

Since November 27, 2025, the police have maintained an eight-count charge against Adeyemi.

The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, contains allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation.

Adeyemi’s latest application therefore adds another layer to the legal battle over his detention and the criminal allegations against him.
