The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has attributed Monday’s power outage in Karu, Nyanya and other neighbouring communities to a fault on its Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line.
Findings show that electricity supply has since been restored following repairs to the affected line.
In a statement signed by its management on Tuesday, TCN said the transmission line tripped at 5:31pm on Monday, October 12, disrupting supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.
The company said its engineers discovered a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2 during a physical inspection of the line.
The fault affected electricity supply to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining areas.
According to TCN, the fault required urgent repairs, which its maintenance crew had scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, to restore the transmission line to service.
The disruption left the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) unable to supply electricity to customers in the affected communities while the fault persisted.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
