The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to explain allegations that it owes its workers more than 12 months’ salaries, describing the controversy as a test of the party’s commitment to financial accountability.

The forum said the allegation, raised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, deserved serious scrutiny, particularly as political parties seeking public office must demonstrate responsibility in managing their own affairs.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Ahmad Sajoh, and Secretary, Danjuma Sada, the group said the controversy raised questions about the ADC’s financial management, operational capacity and commitment to workers’ welfare.

It noted that employees depend on their salaries to meet their daily needs, stressing that every organisation has a responsibility to fulfil its financial obligations.

According to the forum, if the allegations prove true, they would expose weaknesses in the party’s financial management and raise concerns about the priorities of its leadership.

The TSF said the issue also highlighted the need for political organisations to demonstrate financial discipline before seeking the responsibility of managing public resources.

“Nigeria’s treasury is not a pot of soup. Public office is a sacred trust, and the resources of the Nigerian people must never be regarded as an entitlement for politicians, political associates or their supporters,” the statement said.

The group urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the ADC leadership to address the allegations and explain the party’s financial obligations, internal accountability systems and sources of funding.

It argued that political parties must demonstrate credible resource management rather than rely solely on promises about what they intend to achieve if elected into government.

The forum also called on political organisations to present realistic economic programmes backed by transparent funding arrangements, measurable targets and safeguards against the misuse of public resources.

It maintained that voters should assess political leaders not only by their campaign promises but also by their records on financial responsibility and workers’ welfare.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, the TSF urged political parties to uphold transparency and demonstrate that they understand the responsibilities that come with public office.

It stressed that the nation’s resources belong to citizens and should serve public development, essential services and collective welfare rather than private enrichment or political patronage.
