Tuggar to Lead Nigerian Delegation to Attend 3rd AU – EU Ministerial Meeting in Belgium

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the Nigerian Delegation to attend the 3rd AU – EU Ministerial Meeting scheduled to hold from 19th to 21st May, 2025 in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium.

This was disclosed on Sunday, in a statement signed by the Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa.

The Ministry stated that the AU-EU partnership has evolved over a long period of time.  Institutionally, it began with the first AU-EU summit in Cairo, Egypt, in 2000. Since then, five summits have been held where valuable decisions were taken to define the relationship between the regions.

“The upcoming Ministerial Meeting will be preceded by the meetings of the African Group of Ambassadors on 19th May 2025 and that of the Senior Officials on 20th May 2025, respectively,” Ebienfa noted.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs is expected to make an intervention on Peace, Security and Governance at the plenary during the meeting.
