
CDS, Defence, Interior Ministers to Take Centre Stage at DICAN Security Conference

The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN), has announced that the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, that of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa will be among top security experts to grace its Diplomatic and Security International Conference 2025 in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the organization on Sunday.
According to the statement, the host Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar who is DICAN’s grand patron will deliver the keynote address at the conference with the theme, “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation: The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability,”
The conference will avail participants the opportunity to brainstorm on how to proffer lasting solution to Nigeria, Africa and global security challenges.
“The maiden international conference by the DICAN under the visionary leadership of Mr. Idehai Frederick also will x-ray the Tinubu administration’s 4Ds foreign policy framework anchored on Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography and its application in addressing emerging threats and repositioning Nigeria on the global stage,” the statement partly read.
The top-level conference slated for 23rd July at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja will also have top very important persons (VIPs), about 75 diplomats, intelligence and security chiefs, media professionals, heads of agencies, academics, undergraduates and students from selected schools, among other critical stakeholders in attendance.
“A robust panel session will be chaired by the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, and will feature key figures including the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Professor Sheriff Ghali of the University of Abuja and notable journalists of international repute, Alhassan Bala.
“The conference also signals DICAN’s growing commitment to strategic stakeholder engagement as a tool for peace-building and conflict prevention at a time when global security tensions are escalating in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and other parts of the world,” DICAN noted.
Other notable dignitaries expected at the conference include: Presidents of Nigeria, serving State Governors, Past and present National Assembly Members, Security Chiefs and research institutions.
“This gathering reflects Nigeria’s readiness to play a stabilizing role by fostering mutual understanding and multilateral cooperation,” the statement concluded.
