Nigeria at 65: APC Hails Tinubu’s Bold Reforms, Promises Brighter Future
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Nigerians on the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, declaring that President Bola Tinubu’s bold reforms have set the nation on a steady course of prosperity and historic progress.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the anniversary as “a new dawn of great and infinite possibilities in our onward march of progress.”
The APC hailed the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers, stressing that the resilience of citizens had kept the nation united and triumphant through turbulent years.
“There is no better time to be optimistic about the prosperity of our country than now. Despite the flaws and missed opportunities of bygone political eras, a new dawn now breaks over our country heralding brighter days for our people and a vibrant future for our country,” the party said.
According to Morka, President Tinubu’s leadership has repositioned the nation on firmer footing, with significant economic gains already being recorded.
“Our ship of state under the hands of the inimitably bold and visionary President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, now sails confidently in steady and calmer waters on a charted course to a clear destination of stability, growth, development anchored firmly on solid economic foundations,” the statement read.
The APC pointed to key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange system, noting that although they brought initial and transient discomforts, they had already begun yielding tangible results.
“As Mr President has stated, the economy has turned the corner. Our country has become a net exporter, posting consistent trade surpluses in the last five quarters. Non-oil revenue has surged, just as oil production has reached record levels. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.28 percent in Q2 of 2025, the highest in four years, dwarfing the IMF’s forecast of 3.5 percent,” the party noted.
The APC also highlighted improvements in foreign reserves, inflation rates, and debt servicing, while citing job creation through infrastructure, agriculture, and the creative industry.
“With unprecedented uptake in infrastructural investment, revolution in agriculture and the creative industry sub-sectors creating massive job opportunities, and the sustained war against insurgency and corruption, our nation stands on the cusp of historic advancement,” Morka said.
The party commended Nigerians for their patience and sacrifices, urging continued support for President Tinubu’s administration.
“Happy Independence anniversary, dear compatriots,” the statement concluded.
