APC Knocks ADC Over Edo Shooting Allegation, Demands Thorough Probe
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its allegation linking the ruling party to a reported shooting involving ADC members in Edo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the accusation as baseless and premature. The party said it was wrong for the ADC to blame it for the incident before security agencies concluded investigations.
Reacting to the ADC’s February 25, 2026 statement, the APC said, “Accusing the APC even before any investigation is carried out by law enforcement is particularly senseless, and shows the ADC as a party that lacks focus and without regard for the due process of law.”
Morka added that by reaching such a conclusion, the ADC had “declared itself to be the accuser, investigator, prosecutor, and judge in its own cause.”
The APC also faulted the ADC’s reference to alleged “acts of terrorism” by the ruling party, describing the claim as reckless and insensitive, especially at a time when security forces are battling various threats across the country.
While condemning violence in the political space, the ruling party stated, “Violence of any kind in our political space is unacceptable and must be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians.” It called on the police and other law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough and speedy investigation into the Edo shooting and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The APC maintained that it had no role in the incident and accused the ADC of attempting to tarnish its image. It further suggested that investigators should examine alleged internal disputes and leadership struggles within the ADC.
The party said it remained focused on governance and consolidating what it described as recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory municipal elections, as well as constituency elections in Rivers and Kano states.
The APC expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering good governance under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
