Audi Retires as NSCDC Commandant-General, Successor Yet to Be Named

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, has formally retired from service after attaining the mandatory retirement age, bringing his five-year leadership of the paramilitary agency to a close.

Audi marked his final day in office on Friday during activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the Corps’ national headquarters in Abuja. The ceremony doubled as a farewell moment for the outgoing CG, who reflected on his years of service.

Appointed on March 1, 2021, by former President Muhammadu Buhari, Audi steered the Corps through a period marked by renewed emphasis on infrastructure protection, disaster management, and the safeguarding of critical national assets.

As of press time, the Federal Government had yet to announce who will take over the leadership of the NSCDC, leaving the position temporarily vacant pending an official appointment.

Born on September 30, 1967, in Nasarawa State, Audi built a career that combined operational command with academic distinction.

He holds a doctorate degree in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University Keffi and a Master’s degree in Public Business Administration from University of Calabar. He is also a member of the National Institute (mni), a prestigious professional recognition in public service.
