Iran Missile Strikes Kill 9, Injure 27 in Israel

Iran on Sunday launched a fresh wave of ballistic missile attacks on Israel, killing at least nine people and injuring 27 others in what officials described as a major escalation of the ongoing conflict.
Israeli authorities said 11 persons were also reported missing after a missile struck the city of Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem, causing extensive damage to a residential building.
In a post on X, the Israel Defense Forces accused Iran of destroying a building and “killing innocent civilians.”
The military said air-raid sirens blared across central and southern Israel as missiles were detected approaching. Air defence systems were deployed to intercept the incoming projectiles, while emergency responders rushed to affected areas.
The renewed missile barrage followed coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on Saturday, which reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian authorities described Sunday’s missile attacks as retaliation for what they termed “aggression” by the United States and Israel, whose air campaign targeted key military and strategic sites in Iran.
Reports also indicated that Iranian strikes extended beyond Israel to parts of the Gulf region, including areas hosting U.S. military bases, further widening the scope of the confrontation.
The latest developments have heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, as global leaders continue to call for restraint and a return to diplomacy.
