Panic in Ibadan as Man Allegedly Tries to Dump Girlfriend’s Body in Car Boot

Residents of the Akobo area in Ibadan, Oyo State, were thrown into panic after a man allegedly attempted to conceal the body of a young woman in the boot of his car before fleeing the scene.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect was spotted trying to force the lifeless body of the woman into the trunk of a 2007 Toyota Corolla parked near a residential building in the neighbourhood.

According to residents, the man suddenly abandoned the attempt and sped off after noticing that several neighbours were still outside due to the heat.

“He was trying to push the body into the boot of the car,” one resident said. “When he realised people were still around watching, he quickly dropped her on the ground, entered the vehicle and drove away.”

Residents disclosed that the suspect and the victim had earlier been seen entering the house together before the incident occurred.

Police officers later arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the victim, identified simply as Precious, who was said to be a resident of the Akobo community.

Sources within the neighbourhood said the room where the incident allegedly took place was found in disarray, with a hammer reportedly discovered on the floor.

The suspect has been identified by locals as Muhammad Quadri, said to be a former student of The Polytechnic Ibadan and a past member of the National Youth Service Corps.

Community sources also claimed the couple had been involved in what they described as a troubled relationship prior to the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the matter, while investigations were said to be ongoing.
