Terror Attacks: Tinubu Orders Relocation of Security Chiefs to Maiduguri

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to take charge of the security situation following renewed terror attacks in the region.
The directive comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in the North-East, as the President vowed that his administration would intensify efforts to combat criminal elements across the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Tinubu described the recent developments in Maiduguri as disturbing and expressed deep sympathy for victims of the attacks.
“I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil fear,” the President said. “We will continue to intensify our efforts against all criminal elements, wherever they may be.”
He commended the efforts of the armed forces, noting that troops had successfully repelled coordinated attacks on military formations in the state.
“The Monday attacks were desperate acts of evil-minded groups. Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down,” he added.
Tinubu also revealed that he had recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies during a meeting with service chiefs, noting that implementation was already underway.
“I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured,” he said.
The President assured Nigerians that no part of the country would be left vulnerable to terrorists. “There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he said.
The latest directive is coming a day after a series of deadly explosions rocked Maiduguri on Monday, killing at least 23 people and injuring more than 100 others in coordinated attacks across key locations in the city.
