Ex-INEC Chairman, Jega Loses Wife

Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, has died.
The family confirmed her passing in a statement on Sunday, announcing that her Jana’iza (funeral prayer) would be held later in the day in Abuja.
According to the notice, the prayer is scheduled to take place after the Zuhr prayer at about 1:30 p.m. at the National Mosque Abuja.
The late Hajiya Hadiza Jega was widely regarded for her quiet contributions to education and community development, especially in northern Nigeria, where she supported several initiatives aimed at social upliftment.
Her husband, Prof. Jega, a respected academic and public servant, currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Implementation Committee (PLRIC), Special Adviser to the President on Livestock Development, and Pro-Chancellor of both Nasarawa State University and Usman Danfodio University.
Confirming the development, Bayero University Kano, where Jega once served as Vice-Chancellor, also issued a condolence message.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of the wife of our former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Attahiru Jega, OFR,” the university said.
It added, “Her Janazah will be held immediately after Zuhr prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, today Sunday. May Allah grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings. May He also grant the family the strength and patience to bear this loss.”
The family, in its statement, prayed for the repose of her soul and urged friends, associates and sympathisers to remember them in prayers during this period of mourning.
