“We Could Fight This for 20 Years,” Wunmi Threatens Over DNA Dispute

The controversy surrounding a proposed DNA test linked to the late singer Mohbad has taken a fresh turn, with his widow, Wunmi Aloba, declaring that the dispute could drag on for decades if unresolved.
Speaking during a live session on TikTok, Wunmi pushed back against claims that she had resisted calls for a DNA test to determine the paternity of her son, Liam. She maintained that she had consistently supported the process and accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of distorting her position.
“I will prove it over and over again that what is being done will not shake me,” she said, insisting that she remains open to complying with any directive issued by the court.
She warned, however, that failure to follow due legal procedures could prolong the standoff. According to her, the disagreement may linger for years if parties involved do not adhere strictly to judicial instructions.
Wunmi also challenged the elder Aloba’s authority over her child, stating that no amount of legal pressure would alter her stance on the matter. She urged him to pursue his claims through the courts if he so desired.
Recounting earlier efforts to resolve the issue, she said she had initially approached her father-in-law privately and offered to present the child for testing, but the move did not receive his backing.
“I was the one who first suggested the DNA test,” she said, adding that early cooperation could have prevented the issue from escalating into a public dispute.
She further alleged that discussions with the family had been inconsistent, accusing them of prioritising property-related matters while raising the DNA issue publicly.
The latest exchange follows a recent appeal by Joseph Aloba, who called for the test to be conducted without further delay. He also expressed frustration over the prolonged wait to lay his son to rest, noting that burial plans have remained stalled since the singer’s death.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, in circumstances that sparked nationwide attention. His body was later exhumed as part of ongoing investigations, further intensifying public interest in the case.
Since then, the dispute over the DNA test has unfolded both in courtrooms and across social media platforms, with conflicting narratives from both sides. The lingering disagreement continues to delay closure for the family and the eventual burial of the late artiste.
