Governorship aspirant in Gombe State, Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, pledging to sustain and strengthen existing development policies in the state if elected.
Gwamna made his declaration on Tuesday after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the Treasure Suite in Abuja, marking his official entry into the race as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing journalists shortly after the submission, he said his ambition was anchored on the need to consolidate the progress already recorded in Gombe State over the years.
“I’m here to formally submit my nomination form to the Secretariat,” he said, confirming his participation in the governorship contest.
The aspirant praised the current administration in the state, describing its development record as commendable and transformative. According to him, Gombe has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure and governance delivery, which have raised its profile nationally.
“The governor we have has put Gombe State on a new pedestal in terms of development. We are very proud of what he has achieved,” he said.
Gwamna added that his administration, if given the mandate, would focus on continuity, ensuring that ongoing projects and policies are sustained rather than discontinued.
“It is a big challenge to sustain that developmental stride and continue with it. I hope that, given the chance, I will build on what he has done,” he stated.
On internal party dynamics and the forthcoming primaries, he expressed confidence in the political process and said he would abide by whatever decision emerges from the party leadership.
“Whatever the party decides,” he responded when asked about his expectations ahead of the primaries.
With his formal entry into the race, Gwamna joins other aspirants seeking the governorship ticket as political engagements intensify in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
