The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election as a development that would consolidate ongoing reforms and accelerate national development.
The group said the President’s victory at the party’s presidential primary was well deserved, given what it described as the bold economic and governance reforms undertaken by his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, TMV acknowledged that some of the administration’s policies had imposed short-term hardships on Nigerians but argued that the measures were necessary to reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
According to the group, reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market were difficult but unavoidable decisions aimed at correcting structural distortions in the economy.
“We believe that despite the hardship associated with the reforms of the Tinubu administration, the long-term benefits are foreseeable and will ultimately work for all Nigerians,” the statement said.
TMV maintained that the administration’s economic policies were already laying the foundation for long-term prosperity and improved fiscal stability.
The group expressed confidence that Tinubu’s emergence as the APC standard-bearer for the next election would provide an opportunity to consolidate achievements recorded during his first term.
It listed road infrastructure, improvements in power supply, exchange rate stability, the Student Loan Scheme, the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), increased allocations to states, agricultural expansion and food security initiatives among the programmes that could gain further momentum if sustained.
TMV also pointed to ongoing infrastructural projects in the Federal Capital Territory, saying continuity in leadership would help ensure the completion and expansion of development programmes across the country.
The group noted that the President had himself acknowledged the challenges associated with the reform process in a recent “Thank You All” message, while expressing optimism about the country’s future.
“We are glad that the President also acknowledged in his ‘Thank You All’ advertorial that though the journey has been challenging, the future remains promising,” the statement added.
TMV further said it was encouraged by what it described as Tinubu’s commitment to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda, which it believes has the potential to transform key sectors of the economy and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
The organisation urged citizens to remain patient and supportive of the administration as it continues to implement policies designed to achieve long-term economic recovery and national development.
It also appealed to Nigerians to rally behind the President ahead of the 2027 general election, expressing confidence that sustained reforms would deliver greater dividends in the years ahead.
