Demolished three-bedroom bungalow in Ibadan used as a hideout by abductors of Adelabu’s Sister and twin sons

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow in Ibadan believed to have been used as a hideout where Olaide John-Paul, the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons were held after being kidnapped.

The structure, located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road in Ibadan, was pulled down on Monday following the victims’ rescue and subsequent police investigations into the abduction.

John-Paul and her sons were abducted on June 3 while returning from school drop-off in what police described as a carefully planned attack by armed men.

They regained freedom three days later after a coordinated rescue operation.

Police authorities in Oyo State later confirmed the arrest of four suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate linked to the incident.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the gang carried out weeks of surveillance on the family before executing the operation.

According to him, the suspects attempted to infiltrate the household by recruiting an insider and also tracked the victims’ movements before striking in Ibadan.

He added that during the rescue operation, two of the suspects were killed in a gun duel with security operatives, while another suspect, identified as Wale Abolalewa, popularly known as “Oloro,” was arrested. He was said to have been on the police watchlist for related criminal activities.

Authorities said investigations were ongoing to track other members of the gang and dismantle their network across the state.

The demolition of the building, according to officials, is part of ongoing efforts to discourage the use of residential structures for criminal activities, particularly kidnapping-related operations.

Security agencies in the state have intensified surveillance and patrols in identified flashpoints following the incident.
