A high-level delegation from the African Union Commission (AUC) has held strategic talks in Abuja with the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, as both sides moved to strengthen collaboration on peacebuilding, digital innovation, economic integration and sustainable development across the continent.

The engagement, according to a statement signed by the Executive Assistant to the President of the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, Goodness Anenih, brought together officials from the AUC headquarters in Addis Ababa and senior representatives of the Mission in Nigeria.

Central to the discussions was the advancement of the Community Peace Monitoring (CPM) Application, a digital innovation designed to strengthen conflict prevention mechanisms across Africa through early warning systems, community intelligence gathering and enhanced peacebuilding coordination.

The initiative is aligned with the African Union’s flagship peace agenda, “Silencing the Guns in Africa,” which seeks to end violent conflicts, reinforce security institutions and create stable conditions for development across member states.

Both parties emphasized that sustainable peace remains the foundation for achieving the broader goals of Agenda 2063, noting that Africa’s political stability and economic transformation depend heavily on effective conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms.

During the meeting, the Global President of the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, Stephen Gbatigbi Ben-Joel, presented a range of ongoing projects being implemented to accelerate the continent’s development agenda.

Among them is the Pan-African Continental Super Marketplace (PAC-SM), a digital trade platform designed to boost intra-African commerce, connect businesses across borders and support the effective implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Also showcased was a proposed Pan-African Tourism Application aimed at promoting Africa’s cultural heritage, tourism assets and investment opportunities, while improving global visibility of the continent’s tourism sector.

The Mission further highlighted its Limestone Block Technology Initiative, which promotes affordable and environmentally friendly housing solutions to address Africa’s growing housing deficit while stimulating local production and job creation.

Discussions also covered the Mission’s Housing Development Programme as well as its expanding Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions, including recently completed community water projects designed to improve access to clean water in underserved areas in line with Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The AUC delegation, led by Mrs. Orit Ibrahim, Head of the African Union Commission’s Early Warning Continental Situation Room, commended the Mission for what it described as a practical and innovation-driven approach to continental development.

She noted that the integration of technology, community participation and strategic partnerships reflected the kind of solutions needed to address Africa’s complex development and security challenges.

Both institutions agreed to expand collaboration in key areas including peace and security, digital transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and economic integration.

They reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the African Union’s vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated continent driven by African-led solutions.

As the continent progresses toward the realization of Agenda 2063, both the African Union Commission and the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission pledged continued cooperation to strengthen unity, silence the guns, expand economic opportunities and improve living standards across Africa.
