The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the killing of social media influencer Ibrahim Khalil, popularly known as Danshagamu.
Khalil was attacked at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
The assailants reportedly forced their way into the house and attacked him with sharp objects.
The police responded after receiving a distress call from the commander of the quarters’ vigilante group.
Police officers from the Kumbotso Division rushed to the scene and took the badly injured influencer to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.
However, the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.
The command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the killing.
He said the suspects remained in police custody and were undergoing interrogation.
Kiyawa added that detectives had intensified efforts to identify and arrest other people linked to the attack.
He said the command would continue to pursue the case until those responsible face justice.
“The Kano State Police Command will not relent in its mandate to protect lives and property,” he said.
The command has also deployed patrol teams and intelligence personnel to Gaida and neighbouring communities.
The deployment aims to strengthen security and prevent further attacks in the area.
