Worker Dies After Dispute In Abuja Hotel, Suspect Arrested

A hotel worker, Joseph Terdoo, has died following an alleged physical altercation with a tiler, Samuel Net, at a hotel in Utako, Abuja.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Net, who reportedly worked at the hotel, in connection with the incident.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Adeh said the police received a distress report at about 5am on October 20, following reports of suspicious noise and activity on the hotel’s third floor.

Officers from the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters responded to the report and traced the disturbance to Room 301.

They found Net with marks of violence on his body, while Terdoo lay unconscious on the floor with multiple injuries.

The officers rushed Terdoo to Wuse District Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that an argument between the two men escalated into a physical confrontation.

“Samuel pushed Joseph, who fell and hit his head on a wooden object before collapsing,” the statement said.

The police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death remained ongoing.

Reacting to the incident, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence when resolving disagreements.

He advised members of the public to pursue peaceful and diplomatic means of settling disputes rather than resorting to physical confrontation or taking the law into their own hands.

The command also urged residents to report suspicious persons and activities to the nearest police station.

It provided emergency contact numbers 08032003913 and 08061581938 for members of the public who need police assistance.
