The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office will secure him victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing the administration’s economic reforms and improving macroeconomic indicators.
Alausa said the President’s record in office, rather than political rhetoric, would be the strongest basis for seeking another mandate from Nigerians.
Speaking during an interview, the minister said the Tinubu administration had fulfilled key promises by implementing far-reaching reforms that were gradually repositioning the economy and laying a solid foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth.
He maintained that the country’s economic progress was now being validated by independent local and international institutions, rather than government projections alone.
According to him, reports by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, Bloomberg and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) indicate that the administration’s policies are producing measurable results and strengthening confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
Alausa noted that critical macroeconomic indicators were moving in the right direction, with inflation beginning to ease, economic activities expanding and other key economic indices recording steady improvement.
“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” he said.
The minister added that the administration’s emphasis on fiscal discipline, structural reforms and long-term economic stability was already yielding positive outcomes across several sectors of the economy.
He said the reforms were positioning Nigeria for increased productivity, inclusive growth and sustainable national development while ensuring that future generations would benefit from today’s policy decisions.
Alausa expressed optimism that as more Nigerians experience the impact of the reforms, President Tinubu’s performance would remain the administration’s strongest campaign asset ahead of the 2027 general election.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving the welfare of citizens and advancing the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The minister also expressed confidence that the gains already recorded would continue to deepen over time, creating lasting prosperity and expanding opportunities for Nigerians.
