The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders about access to the document.

The commission announced the decision on Monday, saying the online publication would complement the physical display conducted nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026.

Registered voters can now check their particulars on the commission’s portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.

The physical exercise allowed voters to inspect their details and submit claims and objections in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC said it had considered calls for the register to be made accessible online.

“Accordingly, and in furtherance of its commitment to transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process, the Commission has decided to make available on its online platform the same Preliminary Register of Voters earlier displayed at the Registration Areas,” the statement said.

The commission said the online platform contained the same preliminary register displayed at registration areas across the country and was intended to widen public access to the document.

INEC added that it would continue to process claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the final register of voters on December 15, 2026.

The final register is expected to guide preparations for the 2027 general election.

The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, in delivering credible elections.
