Nollywood Actor, Taiwo Hassan(Ogogo)

The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has disclosed that the actor has been diagnosed with stage four cancer and is seeking alternative treatment options for him.

The disclosure was made by his daughters, Kira and Lima, in separate social media posts while appealing to members of the public to help identify medical experts or facilities that could treat the actor.

According to the family, the cancer was discovered about three weeks ago and has affected Ogogo’s abdomen.

Kira, in a video shared on Instagram, said some hospitals had informed the family that they could no longer administer chemotherapy to the actor.

She appealed to anyone with information on a possible treatment, whether conventional or alternative, to come forward.

“I am here for my daddy. He has cancer, and it is stage four. The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again — they cannot give him chemo anymore,” she said.

Kira stressed that the family was not seeking financial assistance but wanted help in finding a treatment option that could improve her father’s condition.

“I am not here to beg for money. I really want to appreciate Senator Yayi (Solomon Adeola). He has been the one helping us, footing the bills. What I am here for is to ask if you can treat my daddy, if you can start chemo for him, whether it is medical or herbs,” she said.

Lima, another daughter of the actor, also appealed to the public to connect the family with anyone who could offer treatment.

She said Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the National Assembly, had continued to provide financial support to the family and had promised to sustain the assistance.

“I am begging you — any help, anything, anybody. If you know someone who knows someone willing to try anything to treat him, please let me know,” Lima said.

She added that the family was desperate to find a way to save the actor, saying she could not bear to watch her father die.

“Nobody even knew he would show up for us this way. But if he is willing to do anything, if you know somebody that knows somebody willing to treat him, I would appreciate it. I cannot watch my daddy die,” she said.

Responding to a comment by socialite Yhemo Lee, Lima said Ogogo was not currently fit to be flown abroad for treatment.

Ogogo, 65, is a prominent figure in the Yoruba-language film industry and has featured in numerous Nigerian movies over several decades.

The family is now seeking recommendations for specialists and treatment facilities that may be able to manage his condition.
