Gegu Urges Kogi SSAs to Remain Loyal, United in Support of Ododo Administration

The Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Hon. Bashir Gegu, has urged Senior Special Assistants to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to remain loyal, united and committed to their responsibilities, stressing that political appointments come with sacrifice, discipline and a responsibility to serve the people.

Gegu gave the charge when the Chairman of the Kogi State Forum of Senior Special Assistants to the Executive Governor (KSFSSA), Hon. Joseph Best A. Omeiza, FCISM, FCIA, MNIM, led a delegation of SSAs on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner as part of the Forum’s ongoing Governor Ododo Business Outreach (GOBO) awareness campaign and mobilisation for the forthcoming 2026 KSFSSA Political and Security Summit.

The Commissioner stressed that competence, intelligence and political experience must be matched with loyalty, teamwork and responsible leadership, urging the SSAs to see their appointments as a privilege and an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to governance rather than pursue personal interests. He also encouraged them to work collectively, maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders and consistently communicate the achievements of the administration to the public.

Gegu commended the Forum for its initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and supporting the administration’s development agenda. He pledged his support for the successful hosting of the 2026 KSFSSA Political and Security Summit, scheduled for September 21–23 at the Glass Hall, Government House, Lokoja.

The Summit is expected to provide a strategic platform for SSAs to deliberate on grassroots governance, political mobilisation, security awareness, inter-agency collaboration and effective communication of government policies and programmes ahead of the 2027 political season.

Speaking earlier, the KSFSSA Chairman, Hon. Joseph Best Omeiza, reaffirmed the Forum’s loyalty and commitment to the Ododo administration, noting that SSAs have a critical role in strengthening the connection between government and the grassroots. He said the Summit would equip and strategically position members for more effective grassroots engagement, political organisation and security sensitisation.

The grand finale on September 23 will also feature the official flag-off of Governor Ododo Business Outreach (GOBO 003), a grassroots-oriented initiative designed to support petty traders and small-scale businesses across the 21 Local Government Areas through targeted cash assistance to strengthen their businesses and livelihoods.

The Forum said the initiative and the Summit reflect its commitment to grassroots economic empowerment, inclusive development, responsible political engagement and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State.
