Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Loses Mother at 88

The founder and president of LoveWorld Incorporated, popularly known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has lost his mother, Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome, at the age of 88.

Deaconess Angel reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday, surrounded by members of her family.

Sources close to the family confirmed her death, although an official announcement from the family and the church was still being awaited at the time of filing this report.

Her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from members of the LoveWorld community and Christian circles, with many remembering her for her faith, humility and devotion to her family.

Deaconess Angel was regarded as an important figure in the Oyakhilome family and remained a strong source of support and counsel to her children.

She and her late husband, Elder T.E. Oyakhilome, raised their children in the Christian faith. Elder Oyakhilome was among the founding figures of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, Edo State.

He later served as Dean of Studies at the LoveWorld Ministerial College before his death in 2008.

Deaconess Angel remained an active member and elder of Christ Embassy Benin until her death.

She was also known within the ministry for her prayers and godly counsel, with Pastor Chris frequently acknowledging her influence and support over the years.

She is survived by four children: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome; Reverend Ken Oyakhilome, pastor of Christ Embassy Houston, Texas; Evangelist Kathy Woghiren, director of the LoveWorld Music and Arts Ministry; and Pastor Linda Okocha, zonal pastor of Christ Embassy Port-Harcourt Zone 2.

Deaconess Angel lived to witness the growth of her son’s ministry from its early days as Youth for Christ, a campus fellowship at the then Bendel State University, into a global Christian movement.

Members of the LoveWorld Nation have continued to pay tribute to the deceased, recalling her as a woman who devoted her life to her family and Christian service.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
