The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy and recovered the victim’s corpse and other exhibits.

The arrest formed part of operational successes recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across several states between September 29 and October 2, 2026.

According to the State-by-State Executive Summary of Nigeria Police Operational Successes for October 3, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, detectives in Enugu recovered the stick allegedly used in the killing and the motorcycle belonging to the deceased.

The statement said the suspect remained under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Enugu.

The police did not disclose the identity of the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the killing.

In Ekiti State, detectives also arrested a suspect over the death of a staff member of a microfinance bank.

Police officers evacuated the corpse to a hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations continued.

Meanwhile, security operations in other parts of the country led to the rescue of 14 kidnapped victims, arrests of suspected armed robbers and cult members, and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and illicit drugs.

In Taraba State, police rescue teams freed three of five kidnapped victims after sustained operational pressure.

The victims returned safely to their families, while the SCID in Jalingo continued investigations.

Ogun State recorded the rescue of nine kidnapped travellers who were reportedly held by their abductors.

Police and other security agencies secured their release, after which officers debriefed the victims before reuniting them with their families.

In Sokoto State, police tactical teams, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violent Crime Response Unit repelled an attack by armed bandits at Tsabre Village on October 2.

The attackers fled into the forest, while a subsequent bush-combing operation led to the recovery of two rocket launchers and two empty AK-47 magazines.

Officers also recovered a mobile phone, torchlight, an army jungle hat, a sweater cap, five pairs of sandals and a rain jacket.

The police said neither the joint security teams nor villagers suffered casualties in the incident.

In Benue State, personnel of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force responded to an ambush by armed bandits along the Amaafu-Abaji Road.

One bandit was killed during the encounter, according to the police, while others fled into surrounding bushes.

A locally fabricated firearm was recovered, and the police reported no casualty among its personnel.

Police tactical teams in Katsina State also repelled an attack by bandits along the Funtua-Zaria Road on October 1.

The operation restored normal traffic flow along the route, according to the police.

In Sokoto, police and Army personnel intervened in a communal clash between two communities in Goronyo Local Government Area on October 1 and restored normalcy.

Elsewhere, three suspected armed robbers were arrested after police raided a criminal hideout in Sabo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The operation followed intelligence received by the police and led to the recovery of an iPhone 7 Plus belonging to a deceased robbery victim.

The police said an identification parade followed the arrests and that the suspects confessed to the crime.

In Ogun State, three suspected cult members were arrested at Agbado following intelligence received by the police.

Items recovered included substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, an axe, laptops, soap and drug pipes.

Akwa Ibom State also recorded the arrest of three suspects during a police raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Itiam Etoi Village, Uyo.

Police recovered large quantities of substances suspected to be cannabis sativa and other illicit drugs.

Another suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation with a long single-barrel gun, a machete and a bag of gunpowder.

In Cross River State, detectives arrested a suspect following a reported threat to life and recovered a locally fabricated single-barrel long gun and two live cartridges.

Police operatives in Ebonyi State arrested another suspected criminal at a hideout in Ezenmahi Village, Onicha Local Government Area.

A locally made single-barrel short gun was recovered from the suspect.

Cross River police also rescued two victims from unlawful detention in a separate operation.

The victims were taken to the Police Hospital for medical treatment.

In Ogun State, police arrested suspects following an alleged assault on police officers during a surveillance operation on September 29.

Two vehicles linked to the incident were recovered and impounded.
