The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) restored electricity supply to parts of Abuja and its environs on Saturday after completing annual maintenance on a power transformer at its Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.

The company restored supply at 4:54 p.m. on October 17, following maintenance on its 60MVA 132/33kV Transformer TR1 at the 330/132/33kV substation.

TCN took the transformer out of service at 12:17 p.m. to allow its maintenance crew to inspect and service the equipment and its accessories.

The exercise affected parts of Kuje Road, Kuje town, Kwali Express Road, Kwali town, Dobi Village, Giri, the University of Abuja, Pegi, Gwako and Gosa.

However, the company said consumers experienced only brief power interruptions during the exercise, with outages lasting 10 minutes before maintenance began and another 10 minutes after it ended.

TCN appreciated electricity consumers for their patience and cooperation during the maintenance work.

The company said the exercise formed part of its annual preventive maintenance programme for transmission equipment.
