The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a two-day disruption in electricity supply to Irrua, Ekpoma and four other areas in Edo and Delta states due to scheduled maintenance at its transmission substation.
The maintenance exercise, scheduled for November 2 and 3, will take place daily between 10:00am and 5:00pm at the Irrua 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by TCN Management, the exercise will involve maintenance work on the 100MVA transformer to enable contractors to commission the SERGI fire protection system installed on it.
The affected areas are served by the Ehor, Uzebba, Ubiaja, Ekpoma and Agbor 33kV feeders.
TCN said the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) would be unable to receive bulk electricity for distribution to customers connected to the five feeders throughout the maintenance period.
The planned exercise is expected to affect electricity supply to communities and businesses served by the affected feeders during the seven-hour daily maintenance window.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise might cause.
The company said the maintenance was necessary to facilitate the commissioning of the transformer’s fire protection system.
