PEPC Verdict: Bankole congratulates Tinubu, says it’s a victory for Nigeria.
Joel Oladele, Abuja
A member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Aare (Hon.) Tolu Bankole, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal(PEPC).
In a statement signed by him on Wednesday, Bankole described the PEPC verdict as a victory for Nigeria and democracy.
He applauded the judiciary, media, Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for various roles played to protect the rule of law even in the face of challenges.
“I join all the good people of this country to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Vice President Kashim Shettima on your victory at the 2023 Presidential Elections Petitions Court.
“I extend this courtesy to all the lord Justices of the Presidential Election Petitions Court for exhibiting uncommon courage in the face of extreme cyber stalking, harassment and threats orchestrated by the enemies of democracy to bully the judiciary. Their rising above board, incorruptibility and insistence on the rule of law must be applauded. I must also thank, most profoundly, the media and civil society groups for unbiased interrogation and reportage of the whole process.
“Today’s judgement is equally a commendation on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s credible and non-partisan conduct of presidential polls under most challenging circumstances.” Bankole said.
He therefore urged opposition parties to embrace patriotism by supporting the President Tinubu in the delivery of his renewed hope agenda to the country.
“I urge the losers to prioritize patriotism above playing to the gallery. This is the time that all hands must be on deck to surmount the challenges currently faced by the country. There should be no difficulty for them to join hands with the renewed hope government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if their focus is indeed service to the people.
“This victory offers Mr President a rare chance given freely by the people to tackle headlong myriads of socioeconomic challenges confronting the country and deliver the renewed hope promised Nigerians without distractions.
Above all, I thank God Almighty for permitting us all to see the light of this day.
“Once again, I congratulate the President, the Vice President and our party All Progressives Congress, APC.” He stated.
