Tension as explosion rocks Ibadan UCH, shopping mall , hotels, others affected

An explosion rocked Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Tuesday.
Some residents via their social media handles confirmed the incident as there were videos online that showed a dusty cloud and burning houses and cars.
According to those in the ancient city, the explosion occurred at about 7pm, with the sound traveling very far. A Facebook user confused it to be a loud and unusual thunderstorm.
National Periscope gathered that affected areas were University of Ibadan, Mokola, Eleyele, Felele, Bodija, Akobo, Secretariat, Jericho and Samonda.
A shopping mall in Bodija, Ace Mall, collapsed from the impact of the explosion.
Davies Hotel, Dominos were not left out of the unfortunate incident.
The popular University College Hospital (UCH) also had some windows and doors shattered while private residences were not spared.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the explosion was yet to be ascertained both officially and unofficially.
While some said it was from a gas filling station, others said it was a bomb.
When contacted, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dotun Oyelade, told newsmen that the government had set machinery in motion to get to the root of the explosion.
It’s yet to be confirmed whether there were casualties from the explosion or not as of press time.
