Tinubu Appoints MKO Abiola’s Son as SSA
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters, effective November 14, 2024.
Jamiu Abiola is the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election under General Ibrahim Babangida’s regime.
Before this new role, he served as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice-President.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, confirmed the appointment.
Imohiosen stated: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters.
“The appointment takes effect from 14th November, 2024. This is in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.”
Highlighting Abiola’s previous role, the statement added, “Until his appointment, Jami’u served as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President.”
President Tinubu urged Abiola to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leveraging his expertise to excel in his new responsibilities.
