APC Shuts National Secretariat to Mourn Late Former President Buhari
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja for three days, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
This was disclosed in a statement signed Monday by the National Spokesperson of the Party, Felix Morka, Abuja.
“As directed by the Acting National Chairman of our great Party, Hon. Bukar Dalori, the Party’s National Secretariat will be closed starting today, Monday, July 14 and will reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025,” Morka stated.
The APC urged party faithful to use the period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader.
Buhari died on Sunday in a clinic in London, United Kingdom, at the age of 82.
His former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, announced his demise in a post on X.
Buhari, who had been battling an undisclosed ailment, was recently discharged from an intensive care unit in London, according to family sources.
He was said to have taken ill during a routine medical visit abroad and had remained under observation in the weeks leading up to his passing.
A retired major general and one of Nigeria’s most recognisable political figures, Buhari served first as military head of state from 1983 to 1985, before returning as an elected president in 2015.
His two-term civilian presidency, which ended in 2023, was defined by a sweeping anti-corruption agenda, an economic reform programme, and sustained efforts to address insecurity across the country.
