E-registration: APC Dismisses ADC Claim of Forcing Civil Servants
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants were being forced to participate in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
In a statement signed on Monday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the allegation as false, baseless and a product of panic triggered by the success of the e-registration exercise.
According to the APC, the ADC was “terrified by the massive All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration” and resorted to spreading what it called “nonsensical allegations” to discredit the process.
Morka stated that claims of coercion were aimed at casting doubt on the party’s digital membership initiative, which he described as innovative and transparent. He said the accusation formed part of a wider disinformation campaign allegedly being pursued by the ADC.
The APC spokesperson recalled that the opposition party had earlier fabricated and circulated a fake APC membership slip, which falsely suggested that a known terrorist had registered as a member of the ruling party.
He said the popularity of the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda had continued to attract Nigerians from across the country, stressing that participation in the e-registration exercise was voluntary.
Morka noted that the overwhelming response from Nigerians compelled the party to extend the registration period from January 31 to February 8, 2026, to accommodate more prospective members.
“Clearly, the ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise,” the APC said, adding that such fear could not justify what it described as “concocting and spewing lies.”
The party insisted that no civil servant or any Nigerian had been pressured to register, maintaining that the exercise was driven purely by free choice and public confidence in the party’s leadership.
While accusing the ADC of fumbling and peddling falsehood, the APC said it remained focused on strengthening internal democracy and innovation.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital and democratic reforms, describing itself as Africa’s standard-bearer in that regard.
