Nigeria, Angola Sign Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomats

Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement to waive visa requirements for holders of Diplomatic and Official passports, in a move aimed at strengthening official engagements between both countries.

The agreement was signed on Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, signed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Tete Antonio, signed on behalf of the Republic of Angola.

According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the visa waiver agreement is expected to ease movement for diplomats and government officials of both countries by removing administrative barriers associated with visa processing.

The Ministry noted that the development would facilitate smoother official interactions, deepen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation between Abuja and Luanda.

The statement further explained that the agreement aligns with broader continental efforts to promote mobility across Africa, strengthen institutional collaboration and advance the continent’s integration agenda.
