Trump Says U.S. Sinks Nine Iranian Warships in Ongoing Attacks

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday night announced that American forces had sunk nine Iranian naval vessels as part of the ongoing joint military campaign with Israel against Iranian targets.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had been briefed on the latest battlefield developments.
“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important. We are going after the rest,” he wrote.
“They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters. Other than that, their Navy is doing very well!”
The latest claim comes on the third day of what Washington has described as “Operation Epic Fury,” a large-scale offensive targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The operation reportedly followed coordinated U.S.-Israeli strikes that have hit key command centres, missile systems and air defence installations.
U.S. defence officials have yet to release detailed operational footage of the reported naval engagements. However, earlier in the campaign, the U.S. Central Command confirmed strikes on Iranian maritime assets, including the sinking of at least one Jamaran-class corvette in the Gulf of Oman.
Military analysts say the Iranian Navy, which operates a mix of older conventional warships, missile boats and submarines, faces significant challenges against the superior firepower and advanced technology of the U.S. Navy.
American carrier strike groups deployed to the region are believed to be playing a key role in the maritime operations. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has been reported as fully operational amid heightened tensions in and around the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a strategic global shipping route, and any escalation in naval confrontation there could have far-reaching economic and security consequences.
Iran has not officially confirmed the loss of nine vessels as claimed by Trump. The situation remains fluid, with regional and international leaders continuing to call for restraint to prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East.
