FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle in Lagos Patrol Operation

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a stolen vehicle during a routine enforcement operation in Lagos, further strengthening its campaign against vehicle-related crimes across the country.
The recovery was made on Saturday, at about 5:11 p.m. by operatives of the RS2.1114 Isolo Unit Command. A Toyota Sienna, ash in colour with registration number LSD438GK, was initially stopped for a Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV) after the driver failed to produce valid documents on demand. The vehicle was subsequently impounded in line with enforcement procedures.
According to a statement signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal and Public Education Officer at the FRSC Headquarters, Abuja, Olusegun Ogungbemide, further checks later revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver declared wanted.
The suspect was on Monday handed over in handcuffs by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Ajao Division, for necessary action.
Describing the recovery as a major breakthrough, the Corps stated: “This recovery is another evidence of the Corps’ growing operational intelligence capacity and the effectiveness of routine patrol enforcement in combating auto theft and related criminal activities.”
The statement added that what started as a routine traffic stop turned into a significant security interception.
“What began as a simple traffic violation check ultimately led to the interception of a stolen vehicle; a clear testament to the vigilance, professionalism, and uncompromising standards of FRSC personnel,” Ogungbemide said.
The FRSC also highlighted the role of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) in aiding vehicle tracking and recovery nationwide. The scheme, it said, has strengthened inter-agency collaboration and curtailed the activities of criminal syndicates involved in vehicle theft.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the officers involved and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to leveraging technology and intelligence to protect lives and property. Motorists were advised to ensure proper vehicle documentation and cooperate with patrol operatives during routine checks.
