Nigeria’s Newest Telecom Operator Vitel Wireless Launches “Data That Never Expires”

Vitel Wireless, Nigeria’s newest telecom operator and pioneer Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission, has rolled out an ambitious campaign promising “data that never expires” to address long-standing consumer frustrations.

The announcement, made at a launch event in Lagos, targets the challenges mobile users face with fast-depleting data plans, a common complaint across the country.

Vitel Wireless Chairman, Kenneth Neabueze, explained that under the new scheme, purchased data remains valid indefinitely.

“You buy 2GB for two days, and it expires? Not anymore. If you buy data under our scheme, it stays with you forever,” he said.

Neabueze added that the initiative promotes transparency, cost efficiency, and better control over data usage.

The concept stems from extensive research into Nigerian consumers’ daily struggles.

“Students often told us that in the middle of doing a project, their data had expired. We asked ourselves, ‘How do we innovate?’ Our analysis showed that given Nigeria’s current economic conditions, data should come with almost 40 per cent discounts and no expiry,” he added.

Vitel Wireless also unveiled its flagship Vitel Xphone and a suite of digital solutions designed to redefine connectivity. Services are accessible via both physical SIMs and eSIMs, offering global compatibility while allowing users to retain or migrate existing numbers seamlessly.

Subscribers enjoy nationwide GSM coverage across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including voice, SMS, USSD, and mobile data.

Chief Operating Officer, Chudi Nwabueze, described the company as a tech-driven operator focused on innovation beyond traditional telecom offerings.

“We’re activating applications and creating tools that people can use in businesses, homes, and daily lives,” he said.

The operator has also launched digital solutions such as the Oga App for real-time staff monitoring, automated payroll, and performance tracking, as well as SecureMe and Asset Tracker, which enhance personal safety and asset management.

SecureMe offers GPS tracking and emergency alerts, while Asset Tracker helps businesses monitor assets in real time.

On pricing, Vitel Wireless encourages consumers to compare daily data costs across providers, highlighting that discounts are available for larger data volumes without expiry restrictions.

Additionally, Relationship Partnership Manager, Chinenye Adebayo, invited Nigerians to join the company’s distribution network as mobile agents or sub-agents nationwide.

With its “data that never expires” campaign, integrated digital solutions, and nationwide coverage, Vitel Wireless is positioning itself as a disruptive force in Nigeria’s telecom sector, promising transparency, innovation, and convenience for subscribers.
