‘Go Get Your Own Oil’ — Trump Tells Allies Hit by Strait of Hormuz Disruption

United States President Donald Trump has told countries affected by the disruption of global oil supplies due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to fend for themselves and secure energy independently.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, urged nations struggling with fuel shortages to either buy oil from the United States or take decisive steps to access supplies through the strategic waterway.

“I have a suggestion… buy from the U.S., we have plenty, or go to the Strait and just take it. You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself,” he said. ([Reuters][1])

His remarks come amid rising global tension following the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which has effectively restricted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz — a critical route that handles about a fifth of global oil shipments.

The disruption has triggered sharp fluctuations in the global energy market, with crude prices surging above $110 per barrel in recent weeks after strikes on key facilities.

Trump also criticised some traditional U.S. allies, including the United Kingdom, for declining to support military actions against Iran, accusing them of failing to stand with Washington during the conflict.

“Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil,” he added.

The comments signal a shift in tone from Washington, with the U.S. leader suggesting that countries heavily reliant on Middle East crude should take greater responsibility for securing their own energy supply chains.

The Strait of Hormuz has remained under tight control by Iran since the escalation of hostilities, significantly slowing tanker movements and worsening supply constraints worldwide.

The fallout has forced several countries to adopt emergency energy measures, as rising fuel costs ripple through global economies.

Despite earlier calls for an international coalition to secure the route, responses from allies have been muted, reflecting growing divisions over the conflict and its implications for global security.
