The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed a supermarket in Guzape, Abuja, following an enforcement operation triggered by consumer complaints over alleged pricing irregularities and unsafe products.
The commission disclosed the action on its verified X account on Saturday, stating that its enforcement team uncovered multiple infractions during an inspection of the outlet.

According to the FCCPC, the violations included discrepancies between shelf prices and what customers were charged at the point of sale, as well as the display of goods without price tags.
The agency also reported the presence of expired items on sale and improper storage of perishable products, raising concerns about consumer safety. In addition, suspected counterfeit items, including rice, were discovered and confiscated during the exercise.
Following the findings, the commission ordered the immediate sealing of the supermarket pending further regulatory action.
The FCCPC stressed that businesses are obligated to uphold transparency in pricing and ensure that all products offered to consumers meet safety standards.
“Consumers are entitled to transparent pricing, safe products, and fair treatment at all times,” the commission stated.

It added that a full review of the situation would be conducted, after which appropriate sanctions or corrective measures would be applied.
The agency also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report deceptive or unfair business practices, noting that consumer feedback plays a critical role in enforcement activities.
