APC Chieftain Gideon Quits Party in Enugu, Cites Personal Reflection

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State, Onyanta Arinze Gideon, has resigned his membership of the party, bringing his involvement in the Amokwe Ward structure to an end.
Gideon’s decision was conveyed in a letter dated April 20, 2026, addressed to the APC chairman of Amokwe Ward in Udi Local Government Area, where he announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
In the letter, he attributed his exit to personal reflection, noting that the decision came after careful consideration. “I have withdrawn my membership from the APC and therefore cease to be a member of the party,” he stated.
Despite stepping away from the party, Gideon acknowledged the relationships and shared efforts that defined his time within the ward. He described the decision as difficult, given what he called the unity among members and the progress made in building the party’s presence at the grassroots.
He expressed appreciation to party stakeholders in Amokwe, commending their commitment and contributions, which he said had helped position the ward as a stronghold within the state chapter of the party.
Reflecting on his experience, Gideon said it was a privilege to work with members of the ward, highlighting their dedication and resilience. He noted that their collective efforts had made the party structure in the area an example worth emulating.
While he did not outline any grievances or future political direction, his resignation comes amid shifting political alignments at the grassroots level in Enugu State, where local party structures remain central to mobilisation and influence.
