Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Sefinat Usman Ododo, has commended workers in the state for their resilience and dedication, assuring them of sustained efforts by the government to safeguard lives and support families amid current socio-economic challenges.
In a message to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, Mrs. Ododo praised the commitment of workers across various sectors, noting that their contributions continue to drive growth and development in the state.
She said the diligence of Kogi workers reflects not only the strength of the workforce but also the shared determination of citizens to build a more prosperous future.
The First Lady described this year’s May Day theme, “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work,” as both timely and significant, stressing that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains focused on ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“Our administration will continue to prioritise the protection of lives and property while pursuing policies that improve the wellbeing of our people,” she said.
Mrs. Ododo also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reforms aimed at strengthening the civil service and boosting efficiency in governance.
She highlighted key initiatives of the current administration, including the introduction of e-governance systems to enhance transparency, the harmonisation of pension and gratuity payments, and the rollout of specialised training programmes for personnel across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
According to her, these measures are part of a broader strategy to improve service delivery and reposition the public sector for greater productivity.
Expressing optimism about the state’s economic outlook, the First Lady noted that ongoing investments in critical sectors would stimulate growth and create new opportunities for citizens.
She urged residents to remain united and peaceful, particularly in the face of security challenges, and to continue supporting government policies designed to improve livelihoods.
Mrs. Ododo concluded by congratulating workers on the May Day celebration, encouraging them to sustain their contributions toward the development of Kogi State.
