The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has hailed the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on his 60th birthday, commending what it described as far-reaching reforms in government communication under his leadership.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the agency’s Deputy Director, Media and Communication, Paul Odenyi, the Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the minister has brought renewed direction and discipline to the information sector.
Issa-Onilu noted that Idris’ approach has helped streamline the way government policies and programmes are communicated, making them more accessible and understandable to citizens across the country.
He said the reforms introduced under the minister have improved coordination among agencies, allowing for clearer, more consistent messaging and stronger engagement with the public.
“The clarity, structure, and consistency introduced into government communication have significantly improved public understanding of policies and programmes,” he said.
According to him, the minister’s leadership has also reinforced the role of information management in national development, ensuring that citizens are better informed and more actively involved in governance processes.
The NOA boss further observed that Idris has placed strong emphasis on promoting national values, including patriotism, civic responsibility, and unity, which he said are essential for building a cohesive and progressive society.
He added that this focus has helped reshape public discourse, encouraging Nigerians to embrace a sense of ownership in national affairs.
Issa-Onilu also commended the minister’s commitment to credible and timely dissemination of information, noting that it has contributed significantly to tackling misinformation and strengthening confidence in public institutions.
He said the agency has continued to benefit from the minister’s guidance, particularly in expanding its grassroots sensitisation efforts and improving operational effectiveness nationwide.
“The agency has drawn strength from the minister’s leadership, which has enhanced our capacity to engage communities and deepen awareness on key national issues,” he said.
Reaffirming NOA’s support, Issa-Onilu pledged that the agency would sustain its advocacy programmes aimed at promoting discipline, integrity, and active citizenship among Nigerians.
He wished the minister continued success in public service and prayed for long life and fulfilment as he marks the milestone age.
